Local SEO Pricing: What Are You Really Paying For?

Local SEO pricing runs from a few dollars to thousands a month because the work differs. Compare scope, spot red flags and know what you buy.

Two plain scope schedules, a project folder and calculator used to compare local SEO quotes for a small business.

Local SEO pricing is hard to judge because one phrase covers a few-dollar directory entry and a campaign of over a thousand dollars a month. The useful question is how that work will help customers discover and reach your business. For broader local visibility without a large agency retainer, I recommend TQP Local Ranking Accelerator.

That is why a price range without scope is not much of a buying guide. A citation order, a listings subscription and a managed website/content campaign can all be sold under “local SEO.” Comparing their monthly prices is like comparing a plumber's inspection with replacing the bathroom because both involve water.

Start with the problem the quote is meant to solve. For a small business that wants more ways to be found, my recommendation is TQP's Local Ranking Accelerator annual. Supported maps and directory listings give customers more places to discover you, strengthen the consistent business information behind local SEO and create links back to your website. We handle distribution, synchronization, monitoring and corrections, so that presence keeps working when your business details change.

If you are planning the whole job, start with our local SEO guide for small businesses. It covers profiles, search topics, service pages, reviews and a first-month checklist.

Individual citation buildingBrightLocal lists US$3.20 per site, or as low as US$2 with bulk citation credits.A citation order is not a continuing website/content campaign. The lower amount has a bulk-credit condition.
Managed listings and local visibilityTQP Local Ranking Accelerator: US$99 monthly or US$990 prepaid for 12 months, one business location, no setup fee.Builds presence across supported maps, directories and AI-connected networks, with ongoing care. Annual includes GBP optimization; on monthly payment it is separately scoped.
A broader managed local SEO campaignBrightLocal advertises US$1,299 per month. Its advertised scope includes website, content, profile, citations and link work. Confirm delivery and written commitment terms for your business.

The citation prices come from BrightLocal's pricing FAQ. Its managed service page describes the broader campaign. We have checked published terms, not tested delivery or verified the vendor's outcome claims.

I recommend Local Ranking Accelerator annual to build and maintain your local visibility: US$990 prepaid for twelve months, equivalent to US$82.50/month, one location and no setup fee. It includes one-time Google Business Profile optimization as well as the continuing identity care. Paying twelve monthly fees of US$99 would total US$1,188, so annual saves US$198 on the subscription and includes that initial optimization.

Unlike a one-off submission order, active synchronization, listing-health monitoring and correction responsibility continue through the paid term. Public listings also create useful references to the business and, where a publisher displays your website link, another route to your site. Publishers control the link display. Broader website/content campaigns are a different purchase; buy them when the destination needs that work.

  • A guaranteed ranking or lead count. Nobody controls Google's results.
  • No named deliverables. "SEO services" is not a scope.
  • They want control of your accounts and will not name you as the owner.
  • Reports full of impressions and no calls, bookings or corrected details.
  • A long lock-in with no way to see the work before month three.
  • A price that is only quoted after a sales call, with nothing written down.

Split setup from the month that follows

Ask what happens once and what happens repeatedly. Correcting the name, phone number or category can be initial work. Monitoring and maintaining agreed information is ongoing work. Publishing a service page can be a project. Researching, writing and improving further pages is a different recurring scope.

A completed setup is not a monthly deliverable forever. If the quote has a recurring fee, it should identify the responsibility that continues: actual maintenance, production, monitoring or a defined advisory service. “We keep an eye on it” needs a description of what receives attention and what happens when a problem appears.

For an illustrative home-based electrical business, I would start with Local Ranking Accelerator to help more nearby customers discover its services across supported maps and directories. Consistent contact details protect the next step when someone is ready to call. If the website also needs work, our Essential Website includes free agency design, copy and setup for up to ten pages. US$99/month covers fast hosting, SSL, ongoing care and support. When booking or guided intake is the job, choose a Smart Website, from US$2,395 setup plus US$197/month, instead. TQP can put a professional destination beside your local presence, then scope deeper work when you need it. Listings also contribute business information to AI discovery networks; check the supported destinations rather than paying for vague promises about every AI engine.

Local SEO quote costs have three layers: initial work, recurring responsibility and separately priced extras.
Compare the same layers across proposals. A one-time correction, an ongoing obligation and an extra project should each have an identifiable price and owner.

The questions that belong beside the price

Ask how many actual locations and services the scope covers, which systems are supported and what requires separate work. A supplier should explain whether they control publication on a destination or can only submit information for that destination to process.

Ask who approves business details and content. Ask whether website changes are included or only recommended. Ask whether the quoted fee includes tools and whether ad spend, hosting, extra locations, content or specialist repairs are additional.

Then settle account ownership and exit terms. Who controls the Business Profile, website and reporting access? What files or records will you receive? What does stopping the subscription stop maintaining? A monthly price is not enough information to answer those questions.

Read written commitment terms carefully. BrightLocal's current managed page advertises “no lock-in” while its contract FAQ describes a 12-month campaign basis. I would ask for the applicable agreement before assuming either phrase explains cancellation. That is a published-text ambiguity, not a claim about how the company handles a customer's contract. Check the current page and your written terms.

Decide what the business can sustain

Build the comparison over the period you are actually prepared to fund. Include initial fees, recurring fees, extras and your own approval or execution time. Keep advertising spend separate. Show whether an annual amount is prepaid rather than quietly dividing it into a monthly number that cannot be purchased monthly. Local Ranking Accelerator lets you cancel future renewals; payments already made, including annual payment, are non-refundable. Choose US$99 monthly when a shorter paid term matters more than the annual value.

Do not buy a ranking guarantee. Google's hiring guidance tells owners to ask about the work and measurement, and warns against guaranteed first place. A responsible supplier can commit to agreed delivery and explain dependencies. They cannot sign a contract on behalf of the search results.

For each comparable proposal, I would want one plain sentence: “For this amount, this person carries this work for this period.” The important buying conditions belong beside it, in words you can use.

The monthly-deliverables guide helps inspect the continuing work, and the DIY comparison helps decide what you can own yourself. Pay for a defined responsibility. For the listings foundation, choose Local Ranking Accelerator annual and let TQP keep that responsibility moving. Bring your current details and website; we can confirm the connected destinations and make the next website or intake improvement a clear, separate decision.

Frequently asked questions

Why do local SEO quotes vary so much?

Quotes can cover different work: listing maintenance, profile work, content, website repairs or broader campaigns. Compare the actual deliverables, setup work and continuing responsibility before comparing monthly totals.

Should a local SEO quote separate setup and maintenance?

Yes. Show the foundation work, what continues afterward and any separate website or custom work. You should be able to tell what the recurring payment keeps useful.

What is the practical value of Local Ranking Accelerator's annual plan?

It builds your presence across supported maps, directories and AI-connected networks, with one-time Google Business Profile optimization and continuing care. Customers get more routes to discover and contact you, while TQP handles the listings work. Add website or intake improvements where they help turn that discovery into an enquiry.
