Google Guaranteed is now Google Verified. Google replaced the Google Guaranteed, Google Screened and License Verified by Google badges on Local Services Ads with one Google Verified badge, effective October 20, 2025, and it ended the Money Back Guarantee that came with the old Guarantee badge. If you were already verified, Google says you do nothing and your ads keep running.
The name still gets searched more than the replacement, so this guide uses both. We read Google's own Local Services help pages on October 11, 2026, and we will tell you what the change does and does not touch.
What changed, in one picture
Here is what Google says, point by point:
- One badge for everyone. Google says it is simplifying its advertiser badges into a single badge for all Local Services advertisers. Search Engine Roundtable reported the replacement of the three old badges, with an October 20, 2025 effective date, from Google's notice to advertisers.
- Existing advertisers: nothing to do. If you had completed the verification requirements, you earn the Google Verified badge automatically.
- New advertisers: finish verification. The badge is issued once you meet all the verification requirements.
- Where it shows. On your Local Services Ads profile, and Google says it may appear on other surfaces where it helps customers. Relevant verifications are called out on verified profiles.
- The Money Back Guarantee ended. Customers could request reimbursement only for services booked through Local Services Ads before December 7, 2025, and within 30 days of the service being completed.
- Ranking is unchanged. Google states that Local Services Ads ranking will not be affected by this change.
So a customer who finds you today no longer sees a promise that Google will reimburse them. They see a badge that says Google verified you. That is still a trust signal, and it means something different. It says you passed checks, not that Google stands behind the job.
What actually ranks your ad
A lot of agency pages still talk as if the badge is the prize. Google's own ranking page says the auction takes your bid and your overall profile quality into account.
Two lines on that page matter to a contractor. First, responsiveness counts, and Google says missed calls may negatively affect it. Second, turning on message and booking leads gives customers more ways to reach you, which Google says can help especially at nights and weekends, when you cannot answer the phone. If you want the cost side of that, our Local Services Ads guide covers what a charged lead is and what a missed call costs.
If you are not verified yet
You do not buy this badge, and you should be wary of anyone who says they can sell you one. Google issues it when you meet the verification requirements. Those depend on your trade and your state, and Google says they may include:
- A public, verified Google Business Profile, linked to your Local Services Ads account.
- Licenses. State or provincial business and owner licenses, where your trade requires them.
- Insurance. General liability, and professional liability for some trades.
- Background checks on the business and the owner for select users, and identity checks for owners or field workers in some categories.
- Business registration for select US categories.
Google lists home service categories such as HVAC, plumber, electrician, roofing, landscaping, locksmith, pest control and garage door. The exact list for your trade and state is in your Local Services dashboard, and that dashboard is the authority. Google also says the process takes on average three to four weeks after you submit your documents, so start before the busy season, not during it.
On cost, Google's pages describe paying when a customer contacts you, not paying for the badge. You will see agency posts quoting a monthly fee for the badge. We did not find that on Google's pages, so check your own account's billing before you believe it.
Where to spend your attention
Treat the badge as the entry ticket and your phone as the work. Local Services Ads send customers to the number you list, many of them at night, on weekends and when your hands are full. Each one is a charged lead you either answer or lose to a competitor who does.
That is the job of our Essential AI voice agent plan. It answers every call 24/7 in English, Spanish or French, asks your questions, books the visit, texts you the summary and sends real emergencies to your on-call phone. It also texts back callers you miss. Price: $449/month with 600 minutes of calls, free setup, no contract. How the number Google rings reaches the agent depends on your carrier and phone setup, and we review that with you first. We cannot promise a ranking, and no provider can.
Your profile needs the same attention. A verified Google Business Profile is a requirement, and your rating, number of reviews and images count toward profile quality. Local Ranking Accelerator keeps your listings and business identity consistent. Price: $99/month, or $82.50/month billed yearly.
Do this week
- Check your badge. Open your Local Services Ads profile and confirm it shows Google Verified. If it does not, look at which checks are still open.
- Review your documents. Confirm your licenses and insurance are current and the names match your sign-up.
- Look at your responsiveness. Count the calls you missed last month and how long messages waited for a reply.
- Turn on message and booking leads if they are off, and set your business hours.
- Decide who answers after hours. A caller sent to voicemail has not been served. Write the rule, then test it with a call.

Frequently asked questions
What happened to Google Guaranteed?
Google replaced the Google Guaranteed, Google Screened and License Verified by Google badges on Local Services Ads with one Google Verified badge, effective October 20, 2025, and ended the Money Back Guarantee that came with the Guarantee badge. Existing verified advertisers receive the new badge automatically.
Is Google Verified the same as Google Guaranteed?
No. Google Verified says Google checked the business against its verification requirements. It does not come with the Money Back Guarantee, which Google discontinued. Reimbursement requests were accepted only for services booked before December 7, 2025.
Does the Google Verified badge improve my ranking?
Google says Local Services Ads ranking will not be affected by the badge change. Ranking comes from an auction that weighs your bid and your profile quality, including responsiveness, rating, reviews, response time, images and completed verification checks. Google says missed calls may hurt your responsiveness.
Everything about Local Services Ads comes from Google's help pages, read October 11, 2026, and from Search Engine Roundtable's August 21, 2025 report on Google's notice. These rules change, and your own Local Services dashboard is the authority for your requirements. The Quiet Protocol is not affiliated with Google. We cannot promise a ranking or a number of leads.
