Service-Business Website Redesign or Rebuild?

Choose a redesign when the underlying content model, routes, platform, and customer handoffs are sound but presentation and clarity need work. Choose a rebuild when service ownership, page architecture, intake, performance, records, or maintainability prevent the site from supporting the business.

The operating problem

The tool is not the decision.

Owners are often sold a visual refresh before anyone tests the operating structure. New colors cannot repair confused service paths, fragile templates, duplicate pages, broken analytics, weak intake, or a platform the team cannot safely maintain.

Decision criteria

What must be true.

route and content integrity

customer-path quality

platform maintainability

cost of preserving current constraints

Real operating scenarios

Where the system earns its place.

The site is credible but visually dated.

The platform blocks intake and content changes.

Several redesigns have preserved the same conversion problem.

Human boundaries

What the system must not pretend to do.

A rebuild does not guarantee rankings or leads.

Existing performance-bearing pages require migration protection.

Claims and proof must remain evidence based.

Evaluation sequence

Start with the work.

  1. 01

    Inventory current pages and performance.

  2. 02

    Test the primary customer journeys.

  3. 03

    Identify platform and content constraints.

  4. 04

Choose the smallest change that fixes the whole path.
