The useful answer

Map a customer workflow from trigger to completed handoff before choosing tools or adding automation.

A workflow is the sequence that moves a customer job from one observable state to the next. A useful map names the trigger, required information, decision owner, action, saved record, waiting time, exception path, customer communication, and completion evidence. Automation belongs only after that path is understood.

The business knows the work in fragments, but nobody can see the complete path or identify where the customer, staff member, or record waits for the next action.

Three signals worth inspecting

  1. 01The same job has several unofficial paths
  2. 02Waiting states have no owner
  3. 03Completion is assumed instead of recorded
