LEHI / AN OWNER'S RESEARCH NOTEBOOK

# AI & digital marketing agency in Lehi A dashboard can point. Buyers decide.

An AI & digital marketing agency in Lehi should connect what the market suggests with what real buyers ask. We build that answer into service pages, local search and governed intake, remotely from Toronto.

THE LEHI CONTEXT **DATA
≠
DEMAND**

## Lehi gives owners a market lens. It cannot make the sales decision.

Lehi City offers SizeUp Lehi, a tool with industry comparisons, competitor context and demographic data for small and medium-sized businesses. It can be useful research. Its graphs compare categories across geographies; they do not reveal why a specific person did or did not choose your service.

That gap is where a practical growth plan begins. Use a benchmark to form a hypothesis, then test it against your own inquiries, margins and conversations. If a buyer cannot see the scope, proof and next step on your page, a better demographic chart will not answer for the business.

THE EDITORIAL POSITION

## Competitor density is a question. It is not permission to imitate the competitor.

Search results and benchmarking tools can show a crowded category. They cannot tell whether the next buyer wants a faster reply, a narrower specialty, a documented process or a different service altogether. Choose a hypothesis the firm can test. Publish the answer only after the team can keep it.

THREE PAGES IN THE NOTEBOOK

## Move from signal to service promise.

OBSERVE

### What the market shows

Use category and competitor data to spot a question. Record the source, geography and date. Do not call a city-wide pattern your own conversion rate.

LISTEN

### What the buyer says

Read recent requests and speak to people who accepted and declined the service. Ask what they were trying to decide, not which headline they liked.

DECIDE

### What the firm can deliver

Choose one offer the team can explain, price and fulfill. Give the website a precise answer and intake a named human owner.

THE OWNER'S INTERVIEW

## Ask for the moment of doubt.

Speak with three recent buyers and three people who stopped short of booking, where contact is appropriate. Ask what they were uncertain about before the first conversation. Do not ask whether they like the website. Ask what they expected it to tell them and what they had to learn elsewhere.

Compare those answers with the top page, the inquiry form and the first human reply. If the same uncertainty appears twice, write a direct answer and verify that staff use the same rule. Keep the buyer's actual language; do not turn a handful of conversations into a city-wide statistic.

Our opinion · Lehi

## Lehi is Silicon Slopes. Local businesses should use the same tools their customers build.

Lehi's economy is built on technology companies, and its residents expect local service businesses to be as smooth as the software they use at work.

We think Lehi owners have the best possible audience for AI-assisted service: people who appreciate speed and accuracy and understand the tools.

Three moves for the next twelve months

1. Use AI to answer and book routine calls.
2. Measure response time weekly.
3. Keep your site fast on a phone.

1. #### Newcomers arrive without a single referral. Lehi grew from 47,407 residents in 2010 to 95,313 in 2025. Every new household needs a dentist, a plumber, an accountant and a cleaner, and it has nobody to ask. Sociologist Mark Granovetter showed that people find opportunities through loose acquaintances more than close friends; for a newcomer, those weak ties are now reviews, neighbourhood apps and search results. The business that wins a family in its first month keeps it for a decade. [Research: Mark Granovetter, The Strength of Weak Ties (1973)](https://doi.org/10.1086/225469)
2. #### Parents here are short on time, not money. 35.2% of Lehi residents are under 18, against 26.1% statewide. Family households plan at night and value convenience over a small discount. In a 2017 PNAS study, Ashley Whillans and colleagues found that people who spend money to save time report greater life satisfaction. Frame your service as time given back, and make booking possible at 9 p.m., because that is when parents finally sit down. [Research: Whillans et al., Buying Time Promotes Happiness, PNAS (2017)](https://doi.org/10.1073/pnas.1706541114)
3. #### Educated buyers research first. Increasingly, they ask an AI. 50.0% of adults in Lehi hold a bachelor's degree or more, against 37.7% statewide. People who read contracts for a living read your website the same way, and more of that reading now happens through AI assistants: Gartner forecast in 2024 that search engine volume would fall a quarter by 2026 as people move to chatbots. Our view: if your prices, process and proof are not written in plain text on your site, the assistant will recommend a competitor whose are. [Research: Gartner, search engine volume forecast (February 2024)](https://www.gartner.com/en/newsroom/press-releases/2024-02-19-gartner-predicts-search-engine-volume-will-drop-25-percent-by-2026-due-to-ai-chatbots-and-other-virtual-agents)

Dollar figures for 2022 sales are in current dollars; per-resident figures divide by the latest population estimate. The readings are our opinion.

The Lehi owner's desk

## Read the market, then listen for the customer who is missing.

Four pieces on a local benchmarking tool, Lehi's two business narratives, the new small-business voice and the job a buyer needs done.

Benchmark with care

### A comparison graph is a prompt for investigation.

Lehi City offers SizeUp Lehi as a small-business research tool. Its own explanation says charts can compare a business with others in the same industry across city, county, metro, state and national areas. It also says the tool covers thousands of industries but applies eligibility conditions, including a nationwide business-count floor. A category view is useful only after an owner knows what it includes.

Use the output to ask why an offer differs, where competitors appear or which assumptions need checking. Do not claim that a category benchmark predicts your firm's bookings or that a demographic profile proves a buyer's intent. Compare the signal with accepted projects, declined inquiries and margin. If the figures and customers disagree, the disagreement is a research question, not an excuse to rewrite the website around the chart.

**Try this week.** Write one question a benchmark raises and name the business record or conversation that could disprove your interpretation.

Two business narratives

### Lehi's technology identity and its downtown businesses both deserve accurate offers.

Lehi City's economic development page describes a revitalized downtown alongside its wider business and technology ambitions. The city's strategic planning has included both retail development and downtown business support. Neither framing says a particular professional firm should market like a tech company or a Main Street merchant.

A service owner can learn from that variety. The right public promise depends on the decision its buyer faces: an ongoing commercial contract, a personal appointment or a scoped project. Write from the real offer and actual service boundary. The city name gives the page context; the firm's evidence gives it usefulness.

The owner's voice

### The City created a channel for small-business experience; create one inside your firm too.

In May 2026, Lehi announced a Small Business Advisory Council intended to bring business perspectives into city discussion of rules and growth issues. The application deadline in that announcement has passed. The council's existence is evidence that owners' lived constraints deserve a hearing, not proof of any policy change or commercial result.

Use the same principle in a growth project. Before announcing a new promise, ask the people who sell, schedule and deliver the work what it will require. Invite a frontline employee to challenge the offer page. If the site says 'same-day answer' and the team cannot meet it, the problem is not copywriting alone. Give operators a voice before giving automation a script.

**Try this week.** Have the person who handles the first reply mark one website promise they can keep and one they cannot.

The customer's job

### Find the moment of doubt that a market report cannot record.

Harvard Business Review's jobs-to-be-done work asks what progress a customer is trying to make in a particular circumstance. The same Lehi service category can contain buyers with different decisions. One may need certainty about eligibility, another may be comparing processes, and another may be ready to book. Those are hypotheses to test with the firm's own inquiries, not measured local segments.

Interview buyers about what they needed to know before choosing. Read lost inquiries as carefully as completed ones. Then write the page around the first consequential decision and give the follow-up to a named person. AI can help record and route the question; it should not turn a vague buyer story into a confident claim the firm cannot support.

**Try this week.** Ask a recent buyer what nearly stopped them from making contact. Check whether the page answers that concern directly.

TURN RESEARCH INTO A REAL OFFER

## Three buyers who need different evidence.

### Home improvement

Separate early feasibility from a priced project. Show what the first meeting can decide and what needs a scoped review.

### Dental care

Help a new patient understand administrative choices. Keep treatment and suitability with the qualified clinical team.

### Commercial services

An organizational buyer needs scope, proposal ownership and evidence the provider can actually supply.

ACCOUNTING / A DISTINCT DECISION

## The firm's own numbers matter more than a category average.

A Lehi accounting practice can use market benchmarks to ask which engagements are underexplained, but its own capacity, client mix and professional judgment determine what it should offer. A tax inquiry, monthly bookkeeping request and advisory engagement need different first answers. The website can explain scope and a secure next step. An AI intake assistant may sort the topic and capture a safe summary; the accountant decides suitability and advice.

OWNER QUESTIONS

## What the research can and cannot settle.

### Should a Lehi service business use market benchmarks to pick its next offer?

Benchmarks can suggest questions about competitors or categories. The owner should compare them with accepted work, lost inquiries, actual margin and direct buyer conversations before changing an offer. We can help turn that decision into a clear page and intake path.

### Can AI find the best customers for us?

AI can help organize approved research and sort inquiries by rules the firm defines. It cannot verify a prospect's intent or decide whether a professional engagement is suitable on its own. A person must review the evidence and keep the rules current.

### Do you have an office in Lehi?

No. The Quiet Protocol is based in Toronto and works with Lehi businesses remotely. The local sources on this page frame the market; your business supplies facts about its customers, service boundaries and results.
