# What we have read, tested, measured and written down.

Resources is the front door to everything The Quiet Protocol publishes. Analysis of how service businesses actually lose work. Instruments that put a number on it using your own records. One published study with its methodology in the open. And working documents a team can use on Monday without speaking to anyone here.

Two of these grow into their own destinations: [Diagnostics & Tools](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/engines) and [Research & Benchmarks](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/benchmarks). Everything else starts on this page.

What the knowledge layer currently contains

- 12 selected Field notes Analysis of the moments where work is lost, chosen rather than archived. Read
- 7 Decision questions The comparisons buyers get stuck on, answered in one place each. Compare
- [85 Diagnostics & tools Calculators and scored diagnostics across 9 operating models. Measure](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/engines)
- [24 measures Published research One study of 118 firm websites, with its rubric and limits published. Investigate](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/benchmarks)
- 21 Working documents Checklists, scripts, scorecards and kits built to be used immediately. Apply

Counts are of what is published here, not of how often anything has been used. Nothing on this page is ranked by popularity, because we do not publish usage data.

## Start from what you are trying to do.

Most resource libraries are filed by what the publisher made: articles here, downloads there, tools somewhere else. That order is useful to the publisher and almost nobody else. These five are filed by the question you arrived holding.

- ### Understand Why does this keep happening to us? Field notes on the moments where enquiries, estimates and appointments quietly stop moving, and what a business can change without buying anything.
- ### Compare Which of these is actually different? The questions buyers get stuck on: a receptionist against an answering service, a template against a built website, a form against an intake system.
- ### Measure What is this worth, in our numbers? Diagnostics and calculators that take your recent call, enquiry, booking and follow-up records and return a directional figure you can argue with.
- ### Investigate What does the evidence actually show? One published study of how firms present their front door in public, with its rubric, its sample and its limits stated, plus the planning references we use when no study exists.
- ### Apply What can we put in place this week? Checklists, scripts, scorecards and reminder packs written to be used on Monday morning by whoever answers the phone.

## Current work.

What the practice is thinking about now. This is an editorial selection, refreshed when the work changes rather than when a metric moves.

[Published research The 2026 Accounting Firm Digital Front Door Benchmark measures reported with confidence intervals. The finding that surprised us was not that firms present themselves badly. It is how rarely a prospective client is told what happens after they make contact. ## Field notes.

Analysis written from work with real service businesses and professional firms. Each one is here because it settles a specific argument, not because it filled a publishing slot.

The full editorial archive is larger than this selection and is being narrowed deliberately. What is listed above is what we would hand someone first.

## Decision questions.

The comparisons that come up in almost every first conversation. Each has one destination that answers it properly, including where the answer is uncomfortable for us.

- [Comparison Is an AI Receptionist different from a human receptionist, or just cheaper? Coverage, consistency, escalation and the jobs each one is genuinely better at.](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/ai-receptionist-vs-human-receptionist)
- [Comparison We already have an answering service. What would change? What an answering service is contracted to do, and where the handoff into your own records stops.](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/vs/answering-service)

- [Comparison Is missed-call text-back the same as voicemail? Two very different recovery behaviours, and the one that keeps a caller in the conversation.](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/solutions/missed-call-text-back)

## Put a number on it.

different operating models. They all work the same way. You supply recent numbers from your own records, and they return a directional figure you can check.

[Open Diagnostics & Tools](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/engines)

- [Revenue Leak Diagnostic Calculator The general model. Recent enquiry, response, booking and follow-up numbers in; a directional figure for exposed revenue and senior time out.](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/calculator)
- [CPA & accounting client intake Calculator The same model calibrated for a consult-led practice, where partner time and good-fit client opportunity have to be separated.](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/calculators/cpa-client-intake-revenue-leak)
- [AI Visibility Score Diagnostic Scores a real website URL on entity clarity, answer coverage, proof and local authority, with the evidence it found.](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/engines/ai-visibility-score)
- [Response-Time Loss Estimator Diagnostic Turns your current first-reply time into estimated lost bookings per month against a benchmark pace.](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/engines/response-time-loss-estimator)

The Revenue Leak Diagnostic is the one to start with if you are not sure. It is the general model; the industry versions only change which numbers matter and how they are weighted.

## Look at the evidence.

are planning references: targets we use when no study exists, marked as assumptions.

[Open Research & Benchmarks](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/benchmarks)

- [The 2026 Accounting Firm Digital Front Door Benchmark Observed The study itself, with every measure, its numerator, and its confidence interval.](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/benchmarks/accounting-firm-digital-front-door-2026)
- [How the study was built Method The rubric, the sampling frame, what was excluded, and the claims the data does not support.](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/benchmarks/accounting-firm-digital-front-door-2026/methodology)

We publish the limits with the findings. It is a convenience sample of public websites, not a nationally representative survey, and the page says so before it says anything else.

## Working documents.

practical assets, grouped by the job they serve. Each one produces something: a filled scorecard, a script someone can read aloud, a sequence a coordinator can run. None of them require a conversation with us first.

## Reading this honestly.

Three rules we apply to our own material, stated here so you can hold us to them.

- ### A calculator is a planning instrument. Every figure these tools return is a model built on numbers you supply. It is useful for arguing about priority and scale. It is not a forecast, a guarantee, or a claim about what your business will earn.
- ### A planning reference is not a measurement. Most of what the industry calls a benchmark is a target somebody decided was reasonable. On Research & Benchmarks, the 30 planning references are marked as assumptions, and the one study with observed data is marked separately.
- ### Compare it against your own records. The fastest way to make any of this material useful is to open last month's call log, enquiry inbox, calendar and invoices beside it. Where the two disagree, your records win.

## Where this usually goes next.

Most visitors arrive with a suspicion and leave with a number or a document. If yours is already clear, whether that is a diagnostic output, a filled checklist, or simply the handoff you know keeps breaking, the next step is to [Book a call](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/book/intro), and we will map the shortest practical path from there.

[Diagnostics & Tools Put a directional figure on the problem using your own recent numbers.](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/engines) [Research & Benchmarks Check what was actually observed before you rely on a number anyone publishes.](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/benchmarks) [Proof and case studies See what changed for a real business, with the evidence classification attached.](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/proof)
