# BrightLocal vs Yext: Software or Done-for-You Local SEO?

BrightLocal vs Yext: software you run, a one-off citation order or done-for-you local SEO? Match the choice to the hours you really have.

BrightLocal vs Yext is a useful comparison only after you decide what work you want done: create or correct listings, keep them updated, report local visibility or coordinate many locations. The brands overlap, but a one-off citation campaign and an ongoing listings subscription are different purchases.

## Does listings management help local rankings?

Yes. Complete, accurate business information helps search engines match a business to relevant local searches. Google identifies relevance, distance and prominence as the main factors; listings work supports that foundation without controlling every factor. That is why both BrightLocal and Yext market listings as part of local SEO. [Google’s local ranking guidance](https://support.google.com/business/answer/7091?hl=en) · [BrightLocal Citation Builder](https://www.brightlocal.com/citation-builder/) · [Yext Listings](https://www.yext.com/platform/listings)

**Local Ranking Accelerator: Local SEO & AI Visibility** is our managed service for that job. We use Yext listings infrastructure, set up and maintain the supported business records, and handle the continuing corrections. Choose it when you want the work done for you. Choose a tracking tool when your main need is measuring positions. A full SEO campaign adds other work, such as website improvements, content and outreach.

My starting recommendation for a small service business is to write the job first. If you want software your team will operate, compare the products below. If you want a broader local presence built and maintained for you, I recommend our [Local Ranking Accelerator annual plan](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/solutions/local-search). It creates more routes for customers to find your business across supported maps and directories, with links back to your website and ongoing care.

The Quiet Protocol maintains the approved business identity across supported listings, with information and duplicate review, agreed maintenance and reporting. The annual price is US$990 prepaid for twelve months for one location, equivalent to US$82.50 per month, with no setup fee and one-time Google Business Profile optimization included. That is a managed service to compare with the work and time you would otherwise arrange yourself.

This guide compares current public provider documentation checked on September 30, 2026. It is not a hands-on speed or usability test. Prices and terms need confirmation for your location count, country and agreement.

**The short answer** BrightLocal and Yext sell different jobs and bill in different ways, so a price table can mislead. Decide whether you want software you operate yourself, a one-off citation order or someone to do the work and keep it right. Match the purchase to the hours you really have. Our Local Ranking Accelerator is the done-for-you option for one location.

## BrightLocal sells several different jobs

BrightLocal's **Citation Builder is pay-as-you-go listing work**. You can choose sites for new submissions or corrections using its free Simply Listings account. Its support documentation lists manual submissions or updates at $3.20 per selected site, with bulk credits offering a lower unit price. Duplicate-removal and data-aggregator options are extra. Those prices do not buy a full local SEO reporting subscription. Citation Builder card pricing · Simply Listings and credit options

The paid platform plans have another purpose. Track supplies local ranking, grid, audit and citation reporting. Manage adds supported listing synchronization and Google post scheduling. Grow adds review monitoring, requests and display features. Citation Builder remains a separately purchased service. BrightLocal's plan scope

Active Sync can also be purchased separately on Simply Listings. Its help page lists Essential at $50 per location per year and Plus at $70 per location per year, with Plus available for US and Canadian locations. The supported publisher list and coverage are still part of the buying decision. A tool subscription is not a person approving your information or resolving every publisher exception. ## Yext's current buying route is different from the old tier tables

Yext's current pricing FAQ says direct pricing is custom, built around the solution, location or provider count and contract term. Billing is typically annual, with other arrangements negotiated. It directs smaller businesses to reseller partners; their service bundle and terms may differ from a direct enterprise purchase. **Get the actual Yext or reseller quote.** An old Essentials or PowerListings comparison is not a current quote for your business. Yext's current pricing explanation

Yext's listings documentation describes matching existing records, publisher opt-in, updates and new-listing creation. Configuration matters: disabling particular sync settings can leave affected listings awaiting confirmation. Ask which publishers, countries and fields are included, and what someone must do when a listing cannot sync. Yext listings configuration

I would also separate Listings from additional reporting, review, page or other capabilities in the quoted solution. A combined platform proposal can be appropriate; it still needs to state what your business is buying and what someone will do with the information it produces.

### Compare the same work

| Your job | BrightLocal route to examine | Yext route to examine |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Build or correct selected citations | Citation Builder campaign, with selected sites and separately priced extras. | Quoted Listings scope, including existing-record matching and publisher availability. |
| Keep important details updated | Active Sync through an eligible plan or standalone subscription. | Active Listings service and configured publisher connections. |
| Review local visibility | Track or a higher plan, with its stated reporting limits. | The reporting capabilities explicitly included in the proposed solution. |
| Have someone manage the work | Separately defined service or your own team using the tools. | Direct or reseller service scope, support level and human responsibilities. |

## Read the dated price table carefully

BrightLocal's pricing page presents prices in US dollars. Its help centre's one-location table currently lists:

| Platform plan | Monthly billing | Annual payment |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Track | US$41/month | US$369/year |
| Manage | US$54/month | US$485/year |
| Grow | US$65/month | US$584/year |

These are dated public figures, not checkout promises. The same help article still opens with a “from $39” statement that does not match its table. I would confirm the applicable table, billing period, taxes and current checkout price rather than repeat that headline. More active locations change the price. BrightLocal's published table · Pricing and USD basis

Yext has no single current public price in its direct pricing FAQ. I have therefore not inserted an old price from another vendor's comparison or a software directory. Compare your written Yext or reseller quote with the BrightLocal tools and services needed for the same scope. Yext pricing basis

**Include the labour left with your team.** A reporting plan still leaves somebody to interpret findings, approve information and carry out the corrections. Price that responsibility as well as the subscription.

Our reason for recommending Local Ranking Accelerator is the combination of reach and responsibility. We build your supported presence across maps and directories, with consistent business details and links that help people find your website. We establish those details with you, review conflicting records and maintain that presence. The infrastructure also connects business facts to [AI discovery networks](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/blog/are-local-citations-worth-paying-for#ai-discovery), including documented OpenAI and Gemini routes. You can notify us of a change instead of turning a new phone number into a personal tour of listing dashboards.

## Cancellation does not mean the same thing as deletion

BrightLocal says its manually built or claimed citations remain with the customer, including account details. Its help centre also says paid Citation Builder campaigns continue if another platform subscription is cancelled, with continued access through free Simply Listings. That does not make future corrections or ongoing synchronization free. Citation Builder ownership and updates · Campaigns after cancellation

**Yext does not say it deletes your listings when you leave.** Its help page says it does not send old data or actively revert records. Once active management ends, publishers may use other information and the details can change. Its pricing FAQ also describes publisher-dependent outcomes, including older data resurfacing. That is a continuity issue to plan for, not proof that Yext deliberately damages the listing. Yext's cancellation explanation · Publisher outcomes

![BrightLocal vs Yext continuity diagram separating completed listing work from active synchronization, with a maintenance responsibility required after the subscription ends.](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/images/editorial/b041-brightlocal-vs-yext-diagram.webp)

Completed records and ongoing synchronization are different things. On exit, decide who owns access and who will check the information next.

Yext's Small Business cancellation help describes disabling automatic renewal and receiving service until the paid-through date. Do not apply that account-specific process to an enterprise or reseller contract without checking its terms. Ask about notice deadlines, renewal, exports, publisher access and any duplicate-management changes. Small Business cancellation scope

## The choice I would make from the actual job

A one-off citation order and continuing listing maintenance buy different jobs. If you need reporting too, check whether it is included or sold separately. With Local Ranking Accelerator, you buy the supported listing work and a team to carry its agreed upkeep.

For repeated updates or multi-location coordination, compare BrightLocal's supported sync options with the actual Yext or reseller proposal. Demonstrate one relevant update and exception path in a demo. Ask what the team must verify and what the publisher still controls. **Choose the arrangement someone will actually maintain.**

The [citation value guide](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/blog/are-local-citations-worth-paying-for) helps you prioritise the places worth managing. Use the comparison to see which work a software quote leaves with you. For broader local discovery with our team doing the work, choose [Local Ranking Accelerator](https://www.thequietprotocol.com/solutions/local-search).

I favour the US$990 annual plan: twelve months of agreed maintenance, plus the included one-time profile optimization. Bring your site list, business details and current account access. **Buy the work you want off your desk**, and let us keep the supported listing information current while you run the business.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is the useful buying question behind a listings software comparison?

Ask whether you need a tool your team will operate or a provider who carries the work. Compare actual distribution, maintenance, reporting and account responsibility for the business you run.

### Do all listing subscriptions behave the same way after cancellation?

No. Check what continues, what stops synchronizing and who can maintain each important record afterward. Do not assume canceling a subscription deletes every public listing or leaves every detail maintained.

### Why choose TQP Local Ranking Accelerator instead of assembling the listing work yourself?

We carry the supported distribution, synchronization, issue review and agreed maintenance. The annual plan includes one-time Google Business Profile optimization. You buy a maintained business identity, without taking on another specialist software job.
